IKA Condemns the Disappearances of People in Kotli

Mumtaz Khan vice Chair International Kashmir Alliance-IKA has strongly condemned the disappearances of more than 15 people from District Kotli and recent disappearance of Numberdar of the village who had expressed his serious concern about the incident and blamed the secret agencies during his recent interview with the BBC.The disappearance of Numberdar soon after his interview leaves no ambiguity that who is behind these disappearances.

Mr.Khan expressed his serious concern about the safety and lives of the disappeared people and demanded immediate and unconditional release of these disappeared people from the government of Pakistan . He said that if people are involved in any wrongful acts there is proper procedure to prosecute them and accused also get the access to the legal remedy which internationally prescribed procedure. But picking up people unlawfully and terrorizing whole community and their families is open state terrorism to which no civilized society accepts and is act of serious violation of human rights.

The human rights record of Pakistan is already being condemned across the world as growing number disappearances from Baluchistan and Sindh, Punjab has sparked the criticism and protest in Pakistan . Now Pakistan secret agencies have begun to target its controlled Part of so-called Azad Kahsmir to silent the genuine voices. The disappearances by the secret agencies from border Areas is conspiracy against the ongoing CBMs and peace initiatives, and if Islamabad serious in peace process it must stop its secret agencies from terrorizing innocent people of Azad Kashmir. These incidents further endorse the reports of European Union and Human rights Watch about the overwhelming control military and secret agencies on political life of Azad Kashmir.

The silence of present so-called government of Azad Kashmir on these disappearances further endorses EU report that there is no meaningful representative system in place in Pakistan controlled Areas. If government fails to protect the lives and dignity of its people it loses moral and legal right to be in power and government should resign. The prime duty of every government is to ensure the security, dignity and lives of its citizens but it is the apathy of so-called government is extremely disappointing and condemnable which has not uttered the single word about these disappeared people and continue to preach people to be faithful to military of Pakistan. The role judiciary is very disappointing in this regard too because people have only source to get the Justice but if Justice system is weak people rights and lives are seriously undermined and are under threat. We will continue to expose such heinous crimes of human rights violations at international Human rights forums to seek the release of illegal detainess.
