Rasul Bux
Palijo is a both a social scientist and politician of South Asian
affairs. A prolific writer, scholar, man of letters, Supreme Court lawyer
and seasoned politician, Palijo is also President of Awami Tahreek, a
Pakistani political party. He is most often recognized for his insights
into world history and people’s movements, politics, the history of
political thought, pure literature and its criticisms. Considered by many
as one of the outstanding thinkers and leaders of 20th century
Sindh and Pakistan, Palijo has been at times misunderstood, misinterpreted
and misjudged not only by his die-hard adversaries, but by his admirers as
well.
One of the
great original thinkers of Sindh, Palijo is often referred to as
“Quid-e-Inqilab” (Leader of Revolution) because of the radical nationalist
pursuits with which he has been challenging the rigid mindset of the
dictators of his times. Using himself as an example, he proclaims that only
a powerfully original mind can emancipate itself from the tyranny of the
accepted but obsolescent ideas of South Asian politics.
Through nonviolent means,
The World Sindhi Institute works
relentlessly
for universal human rights and humanitarian law for
the
Sindhis of Sindh, in southeastern Pakistan. |
